Dancing On Ice star Brendan Cole is due to take to the rink with partner Vanessa Bauer in 2022, but their rehearsal time has been cut short thanks to a painful groin injury. Brendan Cole took to Instagram to inform his followers of what had happened out on the ice.

On his Instagram Story, he detailed the unfortunate moment that something went “pop”, in view of his 88,000 followers.

He wrote: “An update…A week ago during a lift called the fly away my Adductor (groin) muscle went pop mid lift!

“I’m now out of action for a couple of weeks so unfortunately no ice time for me,” he added with a crying face emoji.

The former Strictly professional also apologised to his co-star, writing: “Sorry @vanessabauer_skates. We’ll make up the time, I promise!”

This unfortunate injury comes just days after Brendan was taken to hospital following a blow to the head during training.

Brendan revealed he got distracted from what he was doing and suffered a terrible fall as a consequence.

He told the Daily Star: “I was on the ice and I took my mind off what I was doing for a second.

“I turned – and that’s the last thing I remember. I was taken to hospital and ended up with a concussion.

“When I realised what had happened, I was horrified,” he admitted.

The incident has provided a valuable learning experience for the talented dancer, who acknowledged that a lack of focus during training could be “really dangerous”.

Brendan continued: “It made me think, ‘Don’t do that again, as this is really dangerous’.”

“The other day I was on the ice and had 20 minutes left of my training session, but I knew I was running out of steam and could start making mistakes.”

Despite the new training restrictions, Brendan confessed: “It’s injuries akimbo. You get skates across your shins, bleeding and bruising.”

During practice, Brendan and his partner suffered a serious fall last week, which occured when the former Strictly Come Dancing pro was attempting to lift Vanessa before he slammed into the ice.

Vanessa even posted a video on Instagram of the couple’s terrifying tumble during rehearsals.

That said, Brendan’s partner is backing him to go all the way after he amazed her by immediately picking himself up.

She told the Sun: “It’s so fun with Brendan. I was trying to bring him today but he said definitely the next one.

“He has been so focused on training, he has been working so hard.

“He’s determined to do well and go all the way. We’re having a great time training.”

Brendan was a professional dancer on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing between 2004 and 2018.
