Bridgertons Phoebe Dynevor shares support for mum Sally during Dancing On Ice debut

Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor has offered up her support to mum Sally as she appears on Dancing on Ice.

The actress, 26, who is best known for her role of Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix drama Bridgerton, has been supporting her Coronation Street star mum Sally throughout her preparation for the ITV skating competition, which kicked off last night.

Ahead of her time on the ice, Sally posted a video of herself and dance partner Matt Evers wearing dressing gowns and protective face shields with the caption “It’s time…” as they skated onto the ice during rehearsals.

And alongside the video, Phoebe posted a string of red hearts as her mum prepared for the first show of the series to begin.

Other followers rushed to share their excitement at the new series starting, with one writing: “We can’t wait to watch you all. It’s out favourite time of the year. Even above Christmas. We are so happy."

A second added: "Wishing you all the best for tonight!! So looking forward to the show!"

Later in the evening, Sally and Matt, 45, delivered a "beautiful" performance to She's Always A Woman by Billy Joel where they received a total of 23 points out of 40.

During the judges' feedback, the judging panel – Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Oti Mabuse and Ashley Banjo – praised the star for her "on point" technique despite a stumble but told her to "believe in herself" more and to gain "confidence".

Dancing On Ice fans were also wowed by Sally's "stunning" show look as they took to Twitter to gush over the actress, with even presenter Lorraine Kelly getting involved.

Lorraine, 62, tweeted: "OMG @sallydynevor looks utterly GORGEOUS and she’s so GOOD! A few understandable nerves but she’s one to watch. Love her #DOI."

While one viewer said: "How great does Sally look only used to her as Sally in Corrie #DancingOnIce."

A different account put: "OMG! Sally looks amazing !!! #DancingOnIce."

It comes after the 58 year old admitted she was nervous about putting aside her soap role of Sally Metcalfe to be herself on the celebrity ice skating show.

Opening up on whether she’s looking forward to showing viewers a new side to herself, or is feeling the nerves, Sally told OK! And other press outlets: “It’s a bit of both actually.”

“I do really want people to get to know me because they’ve only known my character for so long, but it’s putting yourself out there that’s quite difficult for me because I’ve never really done this before.”

The mum of three, who is following in her Corrie cast mates footsteps onto the ice alongside pro partner Matt Evers, continued to say: “I’ve hidden behind the character so to suddenly come out after all these years is quite daunting.”

“But I’m hoping that I’ll be ok and it’ll go well, I’ll really enjoy the experience and then go back to being Sally Metcalfe again in a few weeks.”

And it seems she’s getting lots of support from her Coronation Street co-stars, who have been reliving their experiences on the ice and giving her tips and advice.

Sally explained: “It’s lovely that we’ve got a shared experience. Everyone has been really supportive.”

“They’ve all talked me through their experiences over the years and what happened to them.”
