Craig Revel Horwood, 56, has been one of the most outspoken members of Strictly Come Dancing’s judging panel since he joined in 2004. The judge has now addressed speculation surrounding BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker’s continued participation in the BBC contest.
Some viewers were convinced the TV star has received preferential treatment on the show thanks to his BBC Breakfast contract with the broadcaster.
However, Craig believes Dan’s success on the show is thanks to his popularity, denying any “fix” claims.
In an interview on FUBAR Radio, Craig explained that British housewives were particularly fond of the presenter.
He said: “I know that Dan is loved by every housewife in the UK.
“He has the full support of them which is fantastic and that’s why the audience get 50 percent of the vote.”
But some members of the public have been particularly critical of Dan’s performances.
Week after week, Strictly viewers have logged onto social media to express their disapproval of Dan remaining on the show.
E_Proudfoot tweeted: “Surely Dan Walker must know he’s ruining what should be a DANCING show.
“He’s now outstayed his welcome for the last 4 weeks.
“Thanks judges (apart from Craig) for overmarking the guy from the BBC as usual #Strictly.”
TTollgates added: “No shame! Genuine question, how do you feel when great dancers are going home?
“You may be popular, but it’s supposed to be a dancing contest, not a popularity vote. Turns @bbcstrictly into a joke!”

“Absolutely embarrassing Cynthia gave you a 9.”
Dan previously took to Twitter to hit back at his critics as he thanked his supportive fans.
In view of his 736,800 followers, the presenter retweeted a message from Matt_Sole, who wrote: “I love you @revkatebottley – telling it like it is!
“The important thing is that for a couple of hours each weekend I am transported to a happy place.
“The truth is, Dan may not technically be the best dancer, but he is joyous and I love watching him.”
In response to the message, Dan replied: “I know we tend to concentrate on the negative but, overwhelmingly, these are the sort of messages I get about #Strictly every day.
“It’s very special to be a small part of a show that means so much to so many people. Thanks for all the support.”
