Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for coronavirus at Rikers, according to reports.
The disgraced Hollywood mogul, who is currently serving 23 years behind bars after being found guilty of a criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree, is said to be in isolation at this time for his safety and for the safety of other inmates.
The Niagara Gazette claims officials at Wende Correctional Facility said that two inmates had tested positive.
Metro.co.uk has approached Weinstein’s rep for comment.
Earlier this month, Weinstein spent five days in hospital with the convicted rapist’s spokesperson Juda Engelmayer confirming he needed medical attention for ‘ongoing heart problems and chest pains’.
Engelmayer told The Wrap that Weinstein is expected to be transferred into the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision ‘within six days’.
He returned to Rikers Island earlier this week.
If Weinstein serves his full sentence, he will be 90 when he leaves prison. He will also have to register as a sex offender when he is released.
