Friday, a number of stops on Justin Bieber’s forthcoming tour for “Changes” were downgraded from their respective locale’s stadiums to arenas.
While it’s tempting to pin all the blame for the relocation on the impact of the novel coronavirus — which is still disrupting the stock market, cruises, travel, and, most recently, SXSW — the somewhat muted response to Bieber’s first album in five years is presumably a factor as well.
While “Changes” debuted atop the “Billboard 200,” likely helped along the way by Bieber’s attendant YouTube docuseries, the album currently has a 57 rating out of 16 reviews at aggregator Metacritic, along with a 5.6 out of over 3,000 user ratings.
Perhaps during this challenging time, Bieber can take solace in the companionship of his newly-recovered cat, Sushi. Or, possibly, his wife.
