Others that attended the event were Angelica Ross, Simone Missick, Renee Lawless, Keith Boykin, Jason Bolden and Adair Curtis, Ben Cory Jones, and Kalen Allen.
The Wades were there to present Jason Bolden and Adair Curtis with the Business Leadership Award. “It was important for Zaya’s first red carpet to be with her [Black LGBTQIA+] community,” said Union, per a release received by Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
“Jason and Adair were the first people we called to discuss Zaya coming out to us and they’ve helped guide us through the process,” said Dwyane Wade.
Other award recipients included Ross for the Arts & Culture Award, Cheryl Dunye for the Media & Arts Award, Boykin for the Advocate Award, Dr. Shaun Haprer for the Excellence in Education Award, Jeffery Wallace for the Passing the Torch Award and Brian Henry for the Influencer Award.

Big night at the #TruthAwards2020 to celebrate our friends @jasonbolden @adair_curtis receiving the Business Leadership Award. We are incredibly proud of them and grateful for their presence, love & light in ourselves. @richfresh kept us FRESHHHHH in custom suits and @lorraineschwartz laced us with gorgeous jewels for the special occasion. It was an EPIC night filled with so much love & a real sense of community. It was important for Zaya to be a part of such a beautiful night & reminding her of all the love & support she has. We were moved to tears so many times throughout the night. So much gratitude ❤??
Someone else said, “I’m so happy for Zaya and how she’s thriving and I’m still processing the fact that she’s out here eating GABRIELLE UNION up on this red carpet and in that video of the three of them walking like the children are leading!!!”
“The way Zaya slays so effortlessly and her family is struggling to keep up. we have no choice but to stan,” tweeted another fan.
It is clear that it is only up from here for Zaya and it is so great to see she is being uplifted and supported the way that she should. Hopefully, the example set by her family will help other young LGBT youth in their experiences.
