Aldi has become more popular in recent years as it offers good quality groceries for a fraction of the price compared to supermarket giants. It is great for those who want to get the most out of their cash every week. One mum has shared her tips and tricks on how she feeds her family of four for £1.42 a day and this includes healthy meals and snacks.
The typical family of four spends around £103 a week on groceries.
Savvy Aldi shopper has shared onto their dedicated Facebook page exactly how she does it.
One mum asked: “Ideas for feeding family of 4 (2 adults 2 toddlers) for approx £45/£50 a week. This doesn’t include nappies and wipes.
“Trying to cut back as much as I can to save money.”
Thousands of comments flooded in from savvy mums sharing how they feed their whole family for such a small cost each week.
One Aldi fan said: “XL chicken! We get 2 to 3 dinners out of that for 2 adults and 2 toddlers.
“Frozen veg, super 6 veg. The big blocks of cheese go a long way as well. Also go early to get the 30% off bargains.”
Another commented: “I think if I do a meal plan for each day breakfast, lunch dinner and make list and stick to it, it does help.

“I buy discounted veg, chop, freeze, even mushrooms work.
“We built tip cupboard with basics which seem to be the most money, then we only top up on those as they get low.
“I buy meat and marinade it myself which is cheaper and bulk up on veg.”
She explained how this usually works about between £1.42 to £2 each day for a family of four.
Aldi offer something called ‘Super 6’ each week which is when they offer good quality groceries at an even lower price than usual.
Each week it will be different fruit and vegetables that has had its price cut.
Aldi says: “We work with the best suppliers to stock every store with quality fresh meat, fish, fruit and veg. Then every two weeks we pick 6 of our favourites and offer them to our customers at super low prices. And all at no extra cost to our amazing suppliers.”
This week the vegetable deals include courgettes which are half price, sweetcorn, cucumber and lettuce.
Meat is also available to purchase in the weekly offers and this week you can get your hands on king prawns as well as bacon and chicken breast fillets.
Another savvy mum shared how she also bulks out her meals with vegetables as it is a lot cheaper than using meat.
She says: “Definitely meal plan, using up what you have left every week. Use frozen veg, bulk out mince with onions, mushrooms, peppers or lentils. Lots of pasta meals. The vacuum packed tortellini is lovely with a homemade tomato sauce and garlic bread.
“Buy large chicken. Last for two or three meals. I buy a large chicken one week and a large gammon joint the next. Aldi cheaper bacon is excellent. Think its about £3 something for huge pack.”
