B&M removes 'inappropriate' Na Na Na Surprise doll wearing fishnets from shelves

After a mum complained about an ‘inappropriate’ doll her daughter received as part of a Na Na Na Surprise toy, stockist B&M has removed the range from their shelves.

The toy – bought for £23 at B&M Bargains in Kirkcaldy, Scotland – was branded ‘disgusting’ by the mum, who objected to the clothing worn.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, the mum said: ‘It’s a surprise doll so you can’t see what it is when you purchase. There’s a selection and it’s just random the type of doll you get you get.

‘They’re dressed differently, they’ve got different styles, if you like.

‘But they come with clothes and underneath the clothes they’re wearing what I would say is inappropriate – a lace bra, fishnet tights, ready for a Saturday night.

‘I was pretty disgusted. My daughter was more interested in the fact that it was Dalmations because my brother used to have a dalmatian. She was pretty oblivious to the under clothes.’

Na Na Na Surprise toys come in opaque packaging, with the child ‘popping’ open a confetti-filled container to reveal which doll they’ve got.

This particular doll is called Dottie DeMil, with the Amazon description saying: ‘She’s dressed in black and white from head to toe, and her shoes are scented. She also has a tag with her name, birthday and a little about her.’

The customer subsequently contacted B&M and the maker of Na Na Na Surprise, MGA Entertainment, who both said they were investigating the incident.

B&M offered her an apology and a voucher, and spokesperson for the discount store told Metro.co.uk: ‘We will be removing this product from our stores.

‘We’d like to thank our customer for bringing this to our attention and are sorry for any offence that may have been caused.’

This comes after an uproar among parents about LOL Dolls (which are also made by MGA) when parents found out that – when dipped in water – they’d appear to be dressed in bondage-style lingerie.

MGA Entertainment have been contacted for comment. We’ll update this article when we receive it.
