Bodega has begun its 15th anniversary celebrations through a new collaboration with Vault by Vans. The new capsule is inspired by the DIY nature of custom designer goods, with Boston-based Bodega reworking the OG Style 36 LX silhouette, the original name and shape of the Old Skool.
The silhouette is dressed in a series of premium fabrics, including sections of black tumbled leather and buttery suede. The DIY design aesthetic also covers Vans’ classic Jazz stripe, which appears in classic white on the lateral side while the inner foot is adorned with a super hairy brown suede material.
Other details of the sneaker include contrasting white stitching, leather laces and a single tortoise shell eyelet on each eye-stay. Vans’ iconic checkerboard pattern is reworked into a leather tongue — inspired by a certain Parisian fashion house — while Bodega’s logo is repeated across the sneaker’s marshmallow midsole.
Launching the collaboration, Bodega’s Matt Zaremba said, “The goal was to take a more timeless and elevated design approach while retaining the ethos that Bodega was built upon over the past 15 years, especially in relation to our partnership with Vans.”
