RACING at Cheltenham on Friday has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.
The course was due to stage the first day of the November meeting on Friday but have had to cancel the whole card due to the weather.
A statement from the course read: "After 37mm rainfall in the past 18 hours, very sadly we have had to abandon racing at Cheltenham on Friday 15 November, as the course is flooded in areas as well as waterlogged in places.
"Ahead of racing on Saturday there will be a further inspection on Friday afternoon at 3pm. Further information will be issued accordingly.
"The weather outlook for the next few days is showers on Friday with dry days currently forecast for Saturday and Sunday.
"All those with pre-purchased admission tickets and car parking for racing on Friday will be automatically refunded via the original payment method."
The November meeting is set to continue on Saturday and Sunday – provided the track passes an inspection tomorrow.
Following the abandonment, the British Horseracing Authority has moved two races from Friday's card to be potentially run at the weekend.
