A dad has shared his simple and delicious recipe for breaded chicken strips, and claims they are ‘honestly nicer than KFC’.

The Australian man, called Michael, posted on Facebook, where he revealed exactly how he made them with the help of a Kmart air fryer, CC’s chips, chicken breasts and mayonnaise. 

‘To make my chicken strips, you need the Kmart seven litre air fryer and any type of chips you like,’ Michael posted.

‘I used nacho cheese and original flavour, but chill works a treat too.’

To make the strips, Michael said you need to crush the chips to your desired size and slice your pieces of chicken breast into bite-size chunks.

Then, mix the crushed chips with mayonnaise and dip the strips of chicken into the crushed chips until they are coated.

‘Cook the strips for 12 minutes on 180 degrees Celsius, turning half way,’ he said.

‘They are honestly nicer than KFC’s strips and the prep time is around five minutes.

‘My secret tip is don’t overcook the chicken for a succulent taste.’

To make the strips, Michael said you simply need to crush the chips to your desired size before mixing it together with the mayonnaise (the chips pictured after being crushed)

Hundreds who saw the simple recipe said they would definitely try it at home, and the strips are the ‘perfect snack for with the footy’.

‘I usually use rice crispies, but will have to give this a go,’ one person commented.

‘You beautiful thing, I love this,’ another added.

How to make the KFC chicken strips at home

INGREDIENTS

Chicken breasts

Mayonnaise

CC’s chips in any flavour (Michael used nacho and original), crushed 

METHOD

1. Crush the chips in a bowl and slice the chicken into strips.

2. Mix the crushed chips with mayonnaise.

3. Dip the chicken strips into the mayonnaise and chip mixture.

4. Cook the strips for 12 minutes on 180 degrees Celsius, turning half way.

5. Serve hot with extra sauce for dipping if required.

1. Mix 1 cup of flour, with one 1 tablespoon of the following: – sea salt, thyme, oregano, garlic salt, ground ginger, black pepper, onion powder, slap ya mamma (which is a mix of black pepper, red pepper and garlic) and two tablespoons of paprika.

2. Add 1 tablespoon of aromat.

3. Add one table of crushed chilli and set aside.

4. Mix one cup of flour, 1/2 cup of oat milk, one egg, and sprinkle of salt, pepper and slap ya mamma.

5. Add half a grated nutmeg into the mixture.

6. Season chicken with aromat.

7. Coat chicken with plain flour.

8. Coat chicken with batter.

9. Coat chicken with seasoned batter mix.

10. Coat well in the flour and shake off any excess.

11. Deep fry chicken in hot oil.

12. Repeat for each drumstick.

13. Cook on high heat for 15 minutes.
