Feel Content Snaps Up Comedy-Thriller ‘La teoria de los vidrios rotos’ (EXCLUSIVE)

New sales company Feel Content has snapped up international sales rights to comedy-thriller “La teoría de los vidrios rotos” (“The Broken Glass Theory”), a Uruguay-Argentina-Brazil co-production.

The film marks Uruguayan director-producer Diego Fernández Pujol’s sophomore feature. His 2014 road-movie “El Rincón de Darwin” won several international festivals plaudits, taking in the Special Jury Prize and best Latin American actor (Carlos Frasca) at the Malaga Film Festival’s Territorio Latinoamericano sidebar.

Set up at Fernández Pujol’s outfit Parking Films, “La teoría de los vidrios rotos” is co-produced by Micaela Solé’s Cordon Films in Uruguay; Juan Pablo Miller at Argentina’s Tarea Fina Cine and Aletéia Selonk at Brazil’s Okna Produçoes.

Fernández Pujol re-teams as producer with Okna after co-producing Brazilian Cristiane Oliveira’s Berlinale 2017 Generation 14Plus player “Mulher do Pai.”

Inspired in real-life events, Uruguay-set “La teoría de los vidrios rotos” tells the story of Claudio, an on-the-rise insurance expert that has just been promoted to a small town far from the capital. What seems like a simple job monopolizes his attention and even leads him to neglect a very relevant moment with his wife Lucía.

When Claudio -played by Argentine actor Martín Slipak (“Sin retorno”) – travels to the town in what appears to be a simple two-day visit, it turns into a never-ending nightmare, as someone is setting cars on fire at an amazing rate.

Pressured by both his clients’ demand for answers and his boss at the company headquarters, Claudio must discover what and who is behind the attacks, even if it implies risking his own life.

“We clearly saw the film’s potential for platforms and TV channels as main distribution windows” said Eva Pérez Martín, international sales manager at Feel Content. “We think buyers will like its mixture of thriller and surreal humor; it fits some of the most in-demand film genres in the market right now.”

She added: “Also, the film offers several layers of reading and a very universal message: the secrets of the residents of a small town, where nothing is really like what it seems. For all these reasons, it is suitable for a more mainstream audience but also for film buffs.”

The film is expected to be released in theaters next summer.

“La teoría de los vidrios rotos” marks the most recent film pickup by Feel Content Sales, which made its official market bow at Ventana Sur 2020, and mainly focuses on the international distribution of Spanish-language and European films.

Feel Content is fruit of a partnership between Geraldine Gonard’s Inside Content and Luis Collar’s Great Waves.
