NOW TV users have just been given access to thousands of new movies and shows

Disney+ has finally arrived on NOW TV streaming sticks and set-top boxes nationwide. The Netflix streaming rival, which launched in the UK and a host of other European territories last month, costs £5.99 a month and offers access to tens of thousands of hours of popular television shows and movies. And best of all – unlike its closest video on-demand rival – it brings Ultra HD quality and streams on up to four devices simultaneously at no extra cost.

Disney+ arrives as a standalone app, like BBC iPlayer, ITV hub, and a number of other services available on the NOW TV hardware, which is built by streaming maestros Roku. That means you won’t even need to be currently paying for a NOW TV subscription to watch content from the House Of Mouse.

So, if you’re currently coughing up for the Sky Cinema Pass, which costs £11.99 a month, for the access to Walt Disney titles available via the Sky Cinema Disney channel then it’s more affordable to ditch that subscription in favour of Disney+ at £5.99 a month for the entire back catalogue of titles. Of course, one of the biggest appeals of NOW TV over Sky Q is that it’s contract-free – so users will be able to switch to the Entertainment Pass, which offers access to a truckload of exclusive award-winning dramas, comedies and more, at a moment’s notice.

If you are thinking of switching now from a Sky Cinema Pass to an Entertainment Pass, you might be interested to know that three new channels are coming to the latter next month at no extra cost.

Speaking about the update to NOW TV customers, Managing Director for the Sky-owned streaming brand Marina Storti said: “With the arrival of the Disney+ app, customers can now enjoy Disney’s new streaming service alongside NOW TV’s slate of Sky originals, award-winning box sets, blockbuster movies and favourite Kids shows. This new addition broadens the range of content available on our NOW TV devices and helps to further simplify the struggle of navigating multiple TV inputs to find what you want to watch.”

  • Sky TV update brings new way to pay for thousands of new movies, shows

Despite only first launching some six months ago, Disney+ already has an arsenal brimming with content, including 500 films, 26 exclusive original movies and series, as well as thousands of episodes from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and more.

If you already have a Disney+ account, you can sign-in on NOW TV right now and resume watching your series or tune into one of the blockbuster movies on offer.

Disney+ joins the NOW TV App Store alongside a range of apps like Netflix, All 4, ITV Hub, YouTube and more. It also joins the recently launched Roku Channel, which brings access to must-watch shows and movies completely free to watch. The ad-supported channel also plays less advertisements than any other streaming platform, its creators promise.
