Queen Elizabeth gave Meghan certain privileges before Kate

Royal author Lady Colin Campbell claimed that Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and other royals really tried to make Meghan feel welcome.

“I have to tell you, the royal family did go out of their way to welcome and embrace Meghan,” Campbell told The Daily Star. “The royal family went out of their way to embrace her in a way that they have never gone out of their way to embrace anybody else.”

Campbell, who has written multiple books about Britain’s most famous family and appeared on the reality show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, pointed out that Meghan had her first solo engagement with the queen long before Kate.

Less than a month after the Duchess of Sussex married Prince Harry she embarked on a joint engagement with the queen, a privilege that the Duchess of Cambridge did not have until 2019.

Campbell believes the queen liked Meghan so much because she “has a very dominant personality and is someone who has never been shy of walking into a room and taking control of it.”

Meghan was also asked to spend Christmas with the royal family at Sandringham in 2017 before she and Harry tied the knot. Prior to her marriage to Prince William in 2011, Kate was not invited to celebrate the holiday with the royals.

Meghan was treated to special transportation as well

Duncan Larcombe, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story said that when the former actress accompanied the queen on the engagement to the New Mersey Gateway Bridge in Widnes. England they took the royal train.

“The royal train, not many people have ever been on it,” Larcombe stated in the 2018 ABC documentary Meghan’s New Life: The Real Princess Diaries. “You sit down and have kippers, or whatever, with the queen.”

Several royal watchers also recalled that the Duchess of Sussex ignored many protocols that the other family members have always stuck to. But when she did so, the monarch never showed anger and instead seemed to embrace her even more by allowing Meghan to do things that she never permitted other royals ladies to do.
