Rupert Everett has revealed that he doesn't feel guilty over his six-year affair with Paula Yates behind her husband Sir Bob Geldof's back.
The 61-year-old actor has recently opened up about his relationship with the late television presenter, who tragically died of a heroin overdose in 2000.
My Best Friend's Wedding star Rupert talks candidly about coming between the marriage of showbiz couple Bob and Paula on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, which is set to air on ITV on Thursday night.
In a preview clip of his chat with Piers, Rupert confirmed he was with Big Breakfast host Paula "before, during and after" her high profile relationship with Live Aid organiser Bob.
Rupert told the host: "We were very, very close, I must say, for a long time, and she's someone that I adored and still do.
"I think I was in love with her. I adored her."
When asked by the Good Morning Britain presenter how he dealt with Bob, Rupert simply replied: "Just ignored him".
Piers, 55, then asks Rupert whether or not he felt guilty about the affair.
Rupert, who is openly gay, said: "No. I don't know. I think it would be for her to feel guilty, not me."
Paula and Rupert were romantically linked after meeting in 1982 and their affair continued until the breakdown of her marriage with Bob.
Singer-songwriter Bob and Paula eventually split in 1995, with their divorce finalised in 1996.
She started a relationship with INXS singer Michael Hutchence shortly after the break-up.
Michael's shock suicide and Bob gaining custody of their three daughters has always been blamed for her downfall.
When asked if he believes he could have "saved" her from her accidental overdose, Rupert replied: "I am afraid once someone goes off the rails your instinct is to run a mile.
"Fate took such twists. If Michael Hutchence hadn't died, Paula might have survived. Hers was an incredible story in the limelight.
"She was just dealt card after card in the last ten years of her life."
