Tesco is selling a turkey and vegan Christmas dinner in a box for £17.50

Christmas in 2020 will be markedly different from other years.

Though the annual festive day is more of a family shindig, smaller gatherings can still be the same fun, just with less work.

And those looking to reduce the amount of work they have to do can now opt for Christmas dinner in a box, courtesy of Tesco.

The supermarket is offering two new festive trimmings – a turkey dinner in a box and a vegan meal in a box.

Designed for anyone looking to save time with their food shopping, the handy boxes are filled with 15 premium Tesco products.

Included in the vegan box is a Wicked Wellington, made from pea protein and mushroom duxelles to mimic a traditional beef wellington.

This centrepiece is served alongside herby stuffing balls and meat-free cocktail bangers.

In the meat option, you’ll get turkey breast fillet wrapped in streaky bacon with roasted carrot and parsnip with thyme, vegetable mix, pork sausages wrapped in smoked bacon, pork, sage, and onion stuffing balls.

In both boxes, you can also get traditional trimmings such as crispy roast potatoes, thyme-roasted carrots, cranberry sauce, and of course, brussels sprouts.

Arguably, a Christmas dinner would not be complete without a boozy pudding, so Tesco’s new boxes come with a dessert filled with sultanas, cider, and rum, and served with a brandy sauce, as well as a bottle of champagne.

Also included in the box for two are Christmas crackers, because what’s the festive season without a paper crown?

The item comes after new data from Tesco revealed a 45% growth in vegan and vegetarian food and drink products purchased between Christmas 2018 and 2019.

If that sounds like the kind of night you want, you can order the box on the Tesco website or pick it up in-store from 20 November.
