Ashley Cain of MTV’s “The Challenge” wrote a heartfelt message to his late daughter, Azaylia, after the 8-month-old lost her battle with leukemia over the weekend.
“My heart is shattered ?,” the 30-year-old captioned a photo of him holding his baby’s hand on Instagram Monday. “You gave my life purpose, my face a smile, filled my heart with love and my soul with pride.”
He continued, “I can’t put into words my sadness and pain, there aren’t words to describe it. I love you with every ounce of my body and I miss you so much already. You made me a better man. You made me the person I’ve always wanted to be.”
Cain, who alongside his partner, Safiyya Vorajee, had been open about their daughter’s fight with cancer, promised that Azaylia’s “name [will] live on.”
“I will carry your name across every ocean, along every road, to the top of every mountain and across the whole globe,” he added in his post. “Your name will live, your legacy will be remembered and I will seek peace in living as your vessel to continue inspiring, giving strength, spreading joy and saving lives in your name, with your spirit, as your father until we meet again.”
The former British footballer also wrote in the emotional tribute that Azaylia “saved” his life.
Although he did not disclose specifics of his struggles, he wrote in his message, “With my second chance, I make a promise to you that I will make yours live on in our hearts, our thoughts and our prayers.”
Earlier this month, Azaylia was given “just days to live” after being diagnosed with a “rare and aggressive” form of the disease in October.
However, Cain’s baby girl fought for weeks after that, even garnering the attention of celebs like Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson.
She died on Sunday, and Cain broke the news on Instagram, writing in a heartbreaking post, “Rest In Paradise Princess. I will always hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven.”
