The Voice Crowns Its Champion: Find Out Who Won Season 18

Congratulations, Todd Tilghman!

The 41-year-old Meridian, Mississippi, native — who has become known for his soulful country sound — was crowned the winner of season 18 of The Voice on Tuesday night. The finale episode aired remotely from each of the coaches and contestants' homes due to the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Tilghman's win marks the seventh victory for veteran coach Blake Shelton, who last won season 13 with contestant Chloe Kohanski.

Tilghman beat out fellow teammate Toneisha Harris, team John Legend’s CammWess, team Nick Jonas' Thunderstorm Artis and team Kelly Clarkson's Micah Iverson.

Tilghman is the lead pastor at the church where he grew up and is married to his high school sweetheart. After having three children together, he and his wife decided to adopt. With help from friends and their community, the couple were able to piece together $20,000 to bring home a new daughter.

Less than a year later, Tilghman and his wife decided to expand their family once again when the agency called saying their daughter's sister also needed a home. After an anonymous donation, they were able to adopt her as well and now have eight children together.

While Tilghman has always loved singing, he focused his life on serving others. He came to The Voice to finally do something for himself and his family.

Of his journey on the show, Tilghman told PEOPLE during a recent press junket that it has been "increasingly nuts — but not in a bad way."

"We got this under control," he said, before jokingly adding, "Every night, when we're finished with production, I just curl up in my bed and cry. But it's been going well!"

The finale also saw the finalists, Clarkson, Jonas, Legend and Shelton team up with season 18 Battle Advisor Bebe Rexha and former Voice coaches CeeLo Green and Shakira for a supergroup performance of Pete Townshend's "Let My Love Open the Door." Additionally, the finale featured performances by Shelton and his longtime girlfriend Gwen Stefani, the Jonas Brothers with KAROL G, Bon Jovi and Lady Antebellum.
