A Place in the Sun viewers were staggered after a pair of house hunters played hardball over their offer for just £1,000.
Colin and Richard fell in love with a two-bed property in the Spanish island of Gran Canaria on yesterday’s Channel 4 show.
The bungalow was well within their budget of £200,000 and was on the market for just under £163,000.
When it came to making an offer though, the duo were determined to get the best deal possible.
They first asked presenter Jean Johansson to put in an offer of £140,000 but it was quickly rebuffed.
“The agent says that there’s no way that the owner is going to accept that,” she said.
“He’s come back with a counter-offer of £155,000.”
Refusing to back down, the pair then went back with £150,000 which was again knocked back with the owner standing firm at the counter-offer.
But then, much to viewers’ astonishment, Colin and Richard decided to ask one more time with £154,000.
Jean, clearly surprised, said: “Okay, you’re playing hardball Richard.”
And the owner stood firm saying they would not “go one penny less” than £155,000.

“We thought £155k is where we would end up with so accept it,” Colin said.
After the repeat episode, which was originally shown last year, aired again last night viewers were quick to voice their disapproval at Colin and Richard’s offers.
“Well that was 10 minutes she won’t get back just pay the bloody money,” one wrote.
Another commented: “If I was the owner I’d tell them the price has just gone up to 156k… cheeky f***ers.”
A third said: “Pathetic….tell em to piss off.”
While a fourth added: “£154k you're embarrassing yourselves now.”
