Roger Johnson and Nina Warhurst hosted BBC Breakfast on Sunday morning and sporting news was one of the big topics of the day. As well as reporting on England’s football success at the Euro’s, the BBC presenting pair were also speaking about Emma Raducanu’s impressive performance at Wimbledon. However, while interviewing former British tennis player Annabel Croft, things ground to a halt when the video call connection was lost.

Roger and Nina had been quizzing Annabel via video link about the stand out players of Wimbledon so far.

However, while the sports star was chatting about British newcomer Emma Raducanu, she seemingly lost her internet connection as her video feed cut out.

18-year-old tennis star Emma has had a great debut run at Wimbledon so far.

She’s continued into the fourth round of the tournament following a victory over Romania’s world number 45 Sorana Cirstea.

Annabel had been praising the young tennis star, saying: “She just appears to have everything. You know, she’s got a very complete game.”

“You could see this real grit and determination that she has, but real tennis IQ as well.

“So, I feel like the world is her oyster and with her next opponent…” she commented before her video feed broke up.

“Ahhh what a shame,” Roger said, as he realised they’d lost connection, with Nina agreeing: “Oh what a shame.”

“The wifi’s failed hasn’t it? The signal,” Roger explained in response to the technical problem.

Nina replied: “Yes. Annabel Croft talking about Emma Raducanu, the wildcard at Wimbledon, who managed to win yesterday.”

“It’s a great story,” Roger remarked, adding: “I was listening to her being interviewed by Russell Fuller who’s the BBC tennis correspondent on the radio the other day.

“She was talking about having also participated in things like motocross and various other different sports.

“So, she’s obviously an all-rounder who has real talent,” the presenter concluded.

BBC Breakfast viewers were quick to complain about the technical error, with many taking to Twitter to comment.

One viewer wrote: “#BBCBreakfast go nearer to your router Annabelle, these Wi-fi extenders are s****!”

“The quality of that video call with Annabel Croft was just an accident waiting to happen. I’ve seen higher resolution ZX Spectrum games #BBCBreakfast” another viewer remarked.

“Filmed on a Nokia 3310.. #BBCBreakfast” a third BBC viewer joked, referencing the poor resolution of the video call.

Nina continued to praise young tennis star Emma on BBC Breakfast, saying: “As Annabel was saying, just demonstrating that maturity way beyond her years.”

“She’s certainly playing with a big smile on her face,” Roger remarked.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
