Amy Duggar Claps Back After Fans Accuse Her of Sending Herself a Nasty Text Message to Garner Attention: 'I'm Not That Crazy'

Amy Duggar is considered to be the black sheep of the Duggar family. As the cousin who grew up with less restrictive rules, she seems to have taken a giant step away from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar. But she still receives plenty of criticism from fans.

On Oct. 17, 2020, Amy posted a screenshot of a text she allegedly got from a fan/critic of hers — and it wasn’t nice. Unfortunately, fans think she actually sent herself the text and is just looking for attention. Here’s how Amy responded to the claims.

Amy Duggar posted a very critical text message to Instagram she allegedly received

Whew! Ok..I'm just going to leave this here… I tried so hard not to post this . But . I literally had to speak my mind! ( when have I not?) This is a message I received yesterday. I think what really got to me was the fact that this total stranger apparently knows my body so well!?? and literally tells me that my body is ok to produce more childen. Ready for my rant!? Of course you are!! ◇ First off I'm flabbergasted that someone would have the audacity to type these words to anyone!! I mean. Who in their right mind says " I think your body is ready to pop out more kids" to a total stranger?!? This is for all the "Karen's out there." ◇My body has been through alot and it gave me the sweetest boy ever. Yes of course it was worth it. But I still need to heal. C- sections are no joke and vertigo is/ was very hard on me. I still get dizzy sometimes but I'm getting stronger everyday. ◇ Also. I AM TIRED. Anyone else!? This pandemic has been so rough on so many people and my business has taken a hit just like so many others. I need to be on my A game. I need to give it my all . I need to stay creative and focus on 3130. Children are such a blessing, but I can't imagine being pregnant again right now. I'd be unmotivated, emotional, stressed out and not in a good head space and that's ok to admit. ◇ I'm a very hands on mom, and I also want to give my son my full attention. This toddler stage is so amazing and I don't want to miss a thing!◇ A women's body is not a factory!! Yes our bodies can do miraculous things! But I hate that phrase" pop out" umm. No. It's WORK. And our bodies go through alot! ◇ I am an only child, and I think I grew up just fine. So cheers to the mama's who decide to have one child! Honestly we are teetering on that idea. ◇ Some women are designed not to have large families. I am one of them. Too much noise, chaos , it's just not for me. But kudos to those mama's who do! God gave you super human strength ◇ Deep down even though in a way it terrifies me I'd love to foster or adopt. ◇ It's exhausting always being compared to other people. I'm in my thirties now, away from that show and I'm so over it. It just has to stop.

As the Duggar on the outs, Amy has plenty of fans — but she also has critics. She’s gotten quite candid with her social media followers in the past, especially when it comes to parenting and being close to the Duggars. It’s apparent that Amy still receives hate like any other public figure, though. And she posted a text to Instagram that a critic sent her.

“Hello Amy, I would just like to say you’re a good mom but aren’t you a little behind some other famous people who are having four babies by the time they’re 20?” the text reads. “… I think your body is fine to have more. I like you to have a fun life but don’t be selfish with your life. Pick up the pace you should have been pregnant again like yesterday.”

Amy then typed a long rant explaining how terrible it felt to receive such a message and how inappropriate it is for others to tell women what to do with their bodies.

“I tried so hard not to post this,” she captioned the post. “But, I literally had to speak my mind! … This is a message I received yesterday. I think what really got to me was the fact that this total stranger apparently knows my body so well!? And literally tells me that my body is OK to produce more children.”

Amy explained via Instagram Story she wasn’t the one who sent the message to herself

While Amy tried to make a point with the post, it seems many thought she actually sent the message to herself. Typically, messages that are sent appear on the right side of the screen, which is how the text appears in Amy’s post. She then took to her Instagram Story to set the record straight.

According to Amy, the text was originally sent to the Instagram page for her business, 3130 Clothing. “Those that think that I sent that message to myself, it was actually sent to 3130 and then I sent it to myself from 3130,” she said. “So, sorry if that was confusing. I’m not that crazy of a person to send something like that to myself. That’s weird.”

Some fans think the original texter was being sarcastic

While some fans remain convinced that Amy sent herself this message, others think Amy missed the point entirely. It seems the person who allegedly texted her this message is surely referencing Michelle, as she had 19 kids. And a few other Duggar women might be following in Michelle’s footsteps.

“I feel like they were being sarcastic and throwing shade at certain people and doing a very bad job at it,” one fan commented on the post. “You’re a great mom because you are acknowledging how hard it is to be one and that you want to devote your attention not only to your beautiful son, but also to your husband, family, and business.”

“Don’t you see the sarcasm in this persons text or DM?” another added. “They are mocking your cousins. Not nice but not really directed at you or your body. Probably Anna, Jessa, or Kendra.”

We’re glad Amy’s standing up for herself when it comes to the trolls. Whether she sent the message to herself or not, we may never know the truth.
