Mandy (played by Lisa Riley) began Thursday’s instalment of Emmerdale happier than ever as she got ready to tie the knot to Paul (Reece Dinsdale). Little did she know, he was confronting Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) over his malicious abuse of Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson), another situation she was completely oblivious to. Unfortunately, a devastating explosion at the wedding barn saw the village villain meet his maker as he finally paid for his crimes. But as he took his final breath, his son was brought into hospital suffering from injuries he sustained by his father’s latest beating. With so much heartbreak caused in such little time, will Mandy begin to contemplate her future on the ITV soap?
The explosion occurred as Jimmy King (Nick Miles) was desperate to find his wife Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) and save his son Carl from Juliette Holliday (Amelia Curtis).
As he drove like the wind, Paul was taking his anger out on Liv in a terrifying showdown but just as the youngster was about to get up and confront her attacker, Jimmy’s van crashed through the barn.
Bits of the ceiling fell on them both and the driver of the vehicle was seen lying unconscious at the wheel.
Fortunately, Nicola’s husband managed to come around long enough to alert Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) there had been an accident.
However, when Paul came around, he emotionally blackmailed Liv to help him and when it seemed he was free, a gas canister exploded.
Liv and Jimmy were outside of the barn but Paul was still inside as all the teenager had done was help move the debris off of him.
As his legs were broken, he couldn’t move and as she left him to burn, he told her he would get out and take his revenge.
Little did he know his life would be taken from him within mere hours as the medical professionals failed to save him.
Mandy was standing in the waiting room as the doctors tried to save her partner but she was mortified to see Vinny brought through as well.
It has been hugely difficult
Sam Dingle (James Hooton) explained he had found Vinny lying unconscious at Wishing Well Cottage but didn’t know it was because of Paul.
With her son being carted off in one direction and her husband-to-be taking his last breathes in another, Mandy chose to find her partner.
When she saw him all bloodied and bruised, she told him to “fight” so they could get married and live happily ever after.
Unfortunately, she walked in at the wrong time as the doctors announced the time of death, leaving her utterly heartbroken.

With one life lost and another in the balance, Mandy will be hoping and praying Vinny pulls through as well.
However, with so many hints given in episodes airing earlier this week that the next trip the teenager made to the hospital would be his last, she could end up losing her son.
This will destroy the village icon but if she discovers her child died as a result of being beaten by his father over and over, she could blame herself for not seeing the signs.
Having been so blinkered by her love for Paul, she will be mortified she didn’t see what was happening when her back was turned.
Knowing the village would provide constant reminders of her life with Paul and Vinny, Mandy could decide to leave once and for all.
The Dingle icon only made her return a couple of years ago after an 18-year absence, bringing along the family she had made for herself whilst she’d been away.
Her family and loved ones could try to convince her that she is not to blame but stubborn to the core, the only way Mandy would be able to move on from her loss is to make an exit.
This would leave viewers heartbroken as she is one of the soap’s most beloved characters but only time will tell if she has a future in the Dales or not.
Speaking of his exit from the show after 18-months, the actor who plays Paul, Reece, said: “I’m thrilled if I’m honest.
“It has been hugely difficult doing scores of interviews with press, tv and radio for the past month whilst trying not to let the cat out of the bag.”
Asked if he will miss working with his co-stars, he added: “Desperately. They made me so very welcome from the off, and that never changed. We worked hard and laughed a lot.
Reece will continue to be a part of the Emmerdale family as he will be returning to directing episodes rather than starring in them.
Emmerdale continues Friday at 7pm on ITV.
