Hollyoaks’ Kelle Bryan reacts to explosive secret twin twist and teases fallout

Hollyoaks actress Kelle Bryan has revealed all on her reaction to learning about her character's "dark secret".

Martine Deveraux has been keeping the fact she has a secret son for years, with viewers learning the truth last year.

Her son Mitchell Deveraux had a secret twin brother he had no idea about – until now.

Little did Martine know that the child in question moved to the village late last year, and lived close to them.

Toby Faroe and wife Celeste moved to Hollyoaks village, wanting revenge on the family he was abandoned by.

It wasn't until Monday night's E4 episode though that everyone discovered the truth, including a stunned Mitchell.

This was the moment Martine finally came face-to-face with her long-lost son, as he exposed his true identity in front of everyone.

Speaking exclusively to Mirror Online , Kelle has revealed her initial reaction to the major storyline on the Channel 4 soap.

She also teased what was to come in the fallout, as the family deal with the explosive reveal.

Kelle told us: "I guess my initial reaction was shock because of the character she is, she’s principled but equally it's given her balance.

"It actually made a lot of sense to who she is, because she has this jet set lifestyle when actually she was, on the inside, running away from something.

"Being an air hostess gave her power, money and influence. It made her feel sexy and in control of life when actually there was this dark secret she was carrying, so it was also her escapism."

Speaking of what's to come, Kelle hinted there could be danger ahead for some residents but she hoped the family would unite.

She said: "I think the Deverauxs are all about family and togetherness, even though they're dysfunctional like most families are.

"For Martine this is a dream come true, she's been pining after her children secretly for years and she's never been able to express that, or put a lid on her actual feelings. All she wants is everyone back together."

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6:30pm on Channel 4, with the next episode at 7pm on E4.
