Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are soon to be departing from their official duties as members of the Royal Family. The pair will be spending more time in the USA and Canada after March 31, however, they will still need to earn money of their own. But why was Meghan reportedly ‘snubbed’ by Disney for a role in a production?
Reports suggest the Duchess of Sussex was trying to get back into acting after she and Prince Harry announced their exit from their roles as senior members of the Royal family.
Back in 2019, Prince Harry was filmed pitching his wife Meghan as a potential voiceover artist for Disney, while meeting the stars of the live-action adaptation of The Lion King.
After this, a film executive was reported as saying there are “limited plans” for Meghan to join forces with Disney for some upcoming work.
A source even told Mail Online that Nick Collins, Meghan’s agent, was “busy feeling offers,” meaning a collaboration could be coming soon.

Of course, given Disney recently purchased Marvel, it may be Meghan has her sights set on joining the cast of a superhero movie.
The source said: “He has said she wants her return to acting to be part of an ensemble cast in something like a superhero film.
“He’s actively seeking such a movie for her. He’s saying she is available and open to the best offers.
“Meghan is planning a series of meetings in Hollywood. She has already done the voiceover for Disney and now word is out that she’s looking for a superhero film, as a voiceover or even on screen.
- Prince Harry heartbreak: Duke of Sussex ‘always wanted’ to ditch title
“She knows she can’t carry a film as an actress. People won’t be able to get past the fact she’s Meghan Markle.
“But she’s determined to act again and she thinks a big, ensemble film is the way to go… something that pays big but which doesn’t put her front and centre.”
Sadly, however, there is one big reason why this may not happen for her, and why Meghan may have to try a little harder to get a job in acting after being the Duchess of Sussex.
Another source told Mail on Sunday: “Meghan needs Disney more than Disney needs Meghan. She’s a controversial figure.
- Royal devastation: The ONE person Queen can still rely on amid drama
“There have been reports of a deal but that’s not true beyond the voiceover work.”
Meghan is likely a controversial figure, given she has been with Prince Harry when the decision for the sixth-in-line to leave the Royal family as senior figures took place.
However, Meghan is making her step on Hollywood again, given is she believed to have been invited to the Met Gala this year to join her friend Edward Enninful, the editor of British Vogue.
Meghan edited as a guest editor Vogue’s Forces for Change issue last year, which became a best-selling edition.
A source told The Sun: “The Met Gala is for the Who’s Who of showbusiness.
“Naturally Meghan was one of the first names on the guest list, and Edward’s team are excited that the two will go together.
“Meghan is keen to step out occasionally without Harry so that she can establish herself once more in Hollywood.”
This may give her the push she needs to get back into Hollywood, and we may see her donning a Marvel cape yet.
