As well as being a Grammy-Award winning rapper, LL Cool J quickly became a fan-favourite among CBS viewers for his role as Sam Hanna on NCIS LA. With the expansion of his fan base, the actor was forced to share a startling warning with his social media followers.

Sam Hanna (played by LL Cool J) has remained a beloved character ever since he made his first appearance on the procedural drama in season six.

Debuting as a former Navy SEAL-turned-NCIS Special Agent, fans soon got to see the softer side of him – despite his hard exterior.

As well as his close friendship with colleague G. Callen (Chris O’Donnell), throughout the series, Sam has proven to be a proactive member of the team.

This is why many viewers have taken to social media to get to know the actor behind the scenes.

LL Cool J first gained major success in the ’80s as a rapper and eventually received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2016.

As a result, his immense 2.6 million Instagram followers are a combination of music fans and NCIS LA viewers.

From his profile, the NBC streamers are able to see production updates, behind the scenes snippets and promo videos – which is why the star had to issue a warning.

With his growing popularity, imposters have made LL Cool J become one of the latest celebrities to have a fake profile.

On Friday, he took to Instagram and shared a word of warning, which read: “I only have one Instagram account. This one, verified by the blue check mark.”

Thankfully, the clarification helped MannyWshington181 who commented: “Damn bro, I been following a fake LL account, thanks for the info.”

While Cljnyc added: “I received two requests and one tried to imitate the check also!!!”

Onlyhis133 commended the star for his warning and wrote: “Good Man for doing this as so many scammers about.”

This wasn’t the first time the actor addressed his fans on social media, as LL Cool J recently teased NCIS LA viewers with major action in the upcoming episode.

He posted a photo of his character alongside Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen), with their weapons as they appeared to be on the track of a criminal.

The star captioned it: “Tonight the hunters get hunted! Brand new NCIS: LA at 9pm ET/PT on @cbstv.”

This caused a fan frenzy in the comments as the show had recently been on a mid-season break and it was the second episode back.

Marypo37 wrote: “Yayyyyy I hate when it is not on, I seriously look forward to my SUNDAY NIGHTS IN.”

“Can’t wait to watch this episode,” commented Nadfaurobert.

Thankfully, NCIS released a full synopsis of the episode, which provided some major insight into the sneak peek photo.

It read: “The NCIS team scrambles to find Kensi, when she is attacked and kidnapped by a mysterious militia group while helping a group of migrants cross the border.”

NCIS LA season 13 continues Sundays on NBC.
