Ru Paul's Drag Race UK's Baga Chipz has revealed that stars from across the franchise will pay tribute to the late drag queen Cherry Valentine at Ru Paul's DragCon UK 2023.

Ru Paul's DragCon UK will be held at Excel London between January 6-8, 2023, featuring appearances from drag queens from across the world including Baga Chipz, Blu Hydrangea, Cheryl Hole, Divina De Campo, Jinkx Monsoon, Pangina Heals and Trinity The Tuck.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star ahead of the event, Baga explained that she and her fellow queens will also be paying tribute to the late drag queen Cherry Valentine at Ru Paul's Drag Con 2023, following Cherry's death earlier this year aged 28.

Baga said: "We're going to be celebrating the life of our friend Cherry Valentine.

"Her booth is going to be open still and I think there is going to be a book of condolence.

"There's also going to be a booth for the charity Switchboard and World Of Wonder are going to match £5,000 to Switchboard as well.

"Even though it's going to be a fun, amazing occasion and everyone is going to have a laugh, we're also going to celebrate our friend."

Both Cherry and Baga appeared on Ru Paul's Drag Race UK, which has since catapulted many drag queens to worldwide stardom.

Baga's season also saw the formation of The Frock Destroyers, featuring Divina De Campo and Blu Hydrangea, with Baga teasing that there could be an appearance from the group at Ru Paul's Drag Con UK.

"You will be seeing some Frock Destroying content, that's all I'll say. There might be more music in the future too…you never know."

As well as mainstage performances, panels, merch stalls and the chance for fans to meet the drag queens, there will also be a DJ set from none other than RuPaul Charles.

Speaking about the highly anticipated DJ set, Baga said: "She's incredible.

"She was DJ'ing when The Frock Destroyers were at the side of the stage and about to go on. She was sticking her thumbs up, going 'go and smash it girls."

The Frock Destroyers have since toured across the world, with Baga revealing the sweet tribute they paid to the late Olivia Newton-John during a recent tour of Australia.

"Olivia Newton John had just died and she's an Aussie legend, so we put our Pink Ladies jackets on and we went on as The Pink Ladies," said Baga.

However, following the Australian tour and an appearance at Ru Paul's DragCon in Los Angeles, Baga will be returning for the highly anticipated UK event early next year.

Speaking about the event, Baga said: "It's brilliant. I did the first one in the UK. They have them all over the world – I've just come back from the LA one, but the UK one is brilliant.

"I did the first one in 2019 and I performed in front of thousands and thousands of people – me and the Frock Destroyers.

"It's for everyone from all walks of life, all ages. We all have our booths and sell our merch. I mean, the people who come and visit our booths…I had like a three week year old baby and then I had an 82 year old woman.

    "It's for everyone."

Baga and her fellow stars will also be dazzling fans with their glamorous looks on the iconic Queen's Walk, which will take place on the Friday (January 6), with Baga saying: "The ones that always blow my mind are obviously Blu.

"Blu always looks incredible. Krystal Versace looked incredible at the last one. I think all of them are just great.

"They put out all the stops. It's a bit like The Met Gala of Drag Race. Everyone brings their best to Drag Con."

Baga also shared her love for her fans, and said three years after coining her famous catch-phrase "Much better!", fans still queue up dressed a maid from "Dragton Abbey".

"Hundreds. Especially to my first one – and they come to my shows dressed as that as well. Especially the first year when I did my first ever Drag Con, there must have been at least 200 people dressed as maids," said Baga.

"I still get it today when I do a gig. They still come up to me at the meet and greets and go, 'Much better!'

"They're so supportive and if that catch-phrase makes people happy then it's fabulous."

As well as Ru Paul's DragCon UK, Baga is also heading out on more tours in the coming months, saying: "With this job, you never know what is around the corner, but it's so exciting."

She added: "You know you've made it in life when you're a question on Pointless and Tipping Point."

Ru Paul's DragCon UK will be at Excel London from January 6-8, 2023. Tickets are on sale now.
