The ITV lunchtime show saw Linda Robson, Saira Khan, Jane Moore and Kaye Adams at the panel to give the lowdown on some of the day’s biggest talking points. The Loose Women are known for never shying away from challenging topics and today, Saira explained how her decision to do a body-positive photoshoot to celebrate her 50th birthday led to her not speaking to her mother for “eight months,” after she stripped off late last year.
Saira detailed why she decided to do the nude photoshoot to celebrate her milestone birthday.
However, she revealed the snaps didn’t go down as well with some of her family members, which she explained was “very upsetting.”
She told her fellow panellists: “My mum didn’t talk to me for eight months and it really upset me and it upset my family, upset my children.
“On my 50th birthday, my mum was not going to phone me up and talk to me. She said, ‘You have brought shame on the family.’”
Revealing the lasting-effects of the photoshoot, she added: “There are members of my family who still don’t talk to me because I did that cover shoot…
“They think I’ve let a lot of people down. But do you know what? I didn’t let myself down,” she said.
Saira talked about how the shoot allowed her to embrace her body, remarking: “There’s nothing wrong with being confident and having that self-esteem to do the things you want to do in life.”
Her co-star Kaye went on to question her about why she felt it was so important to do the shoot.
