Spoilers: Gray walks free after killing Chantelle in EastEnders

Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) was let go by the police in EastEnders tonight (September 21), as the investigation into Chantelle’s (Jessica Plummer) death continues.

Chantelle bravely stood up to Gray in Friday’s episode (September 18), informing him that she was leaving him and that there wasn’t anything he could do to stop her.

However, he lashed out in a fit of rage, and pushed her, causing her to fall back onto the dishwasher — which resulted in her being injured by some sharp cutlery.

The calculated abuser allowed Chantelle to die, and then subsequently covered his tracks in order to make the death appear accidental, before taking a trip through the market to give himself an alibi.

In tonight’s episode, Gray was questioned by the police in regards to Chantelle’s death, and he put in an award-worthy performance, as he broke down in the station.

Meanwhile, Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) was distraught to learn about Chantelle’s death, but she soon found herself distracted by trying to figure out why Gray was at the police station.

As the episode came to an end, the abuser was let go and thus taken back to Walford, where he stared at No. 1 Albert Square.

Karen spotted him and ran over to give him a hug — as she broke down in his arms.

Will Gray be exposed for the abuser and murderer that he is?
