It was clear from the outset that Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) was one to watch and viewers have been horrified to see the manipulative matriarch use a fake cancer diagnosis to try and weave her way back into the lives of her children.
Particularly with everything happening with Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) in the wake of Daniel Cook’s (Ade Edmondson) death, it’s hit a particularly sour note that she would continue to deceive people over such a serious matter – but is Jean about to discover the truth?
The walls begin to close in on Suki’s lies when Jean makes it her mission to get to the bottom of her treatment. Jean’s determination concerns Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) who confides in Mo Harris (Laila Morse), unaware Jean has overheard.
Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) gives Daniel’s ashes to Jean but her attention turns elsewhere when Mo tries to sell a specialist bed meant for Daniel.
Jean offers Suki the bed, however, when Jean talks to her about her doctor, Suki’s lies nearly unravel forcing her to cover her tracks. With Jean’s doubts heightened even further, Shirley is also watching Suki like a hawk.
And when she joins them as they plant a tree in memorial of Daniel, Shirley confronts Jean over Suki but Jean is upset with her and they argue, leading Shirley to apologise.
Has Suki managed to persuade Jean that she is not lying or will Jean uncover the horrible reality of her story and how much it could impact her family?
As suspicions grow, what action will Suki take to cover her tracks and keep up her cruel and despicable façade?
One to watch: Tuesday 3 March at 7:30pm on BBC One.
