The Chase returned to our screens this afternoon for the latest throwback instalment of the popular ITV quiz show.
Host Bradley Walsh welcomed a team of four contestants to the show this afternoon.
The cheeky presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.
Mark "The Beast" Labbett was in the hot seat on Friday trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.
Terry, Donna, Natasha and Mark all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Beast in an intense round of general knowledge questions.
ITV viewers were left on the edge after The Beast caught this afternoon's team with just two seconds left on the clock.
Contestants Donna and Terry sailed through to the final chase and answered a total of 15 questions correctly.
The Beast got eight questions wrong during the intense final showdown and it looked certain that the pair of contestants would be leaving with the £13,000 prize fund.
However, the quiz champion regained his form in the last 30 seconds and answered questions accurately and quickly.
He caught the team with just two seconds remaining despite admitting playing "badly".
Viewers at home rushed to their keyboards to discuss the close final with some suggesting that
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "The Beast is atrocious today."
Another added: "The Beast miles off form but luckily for him so were the team when it came to the push backs. They over thought the answers and ended up talking themselves out the right answers."
A third said: "Omg that final chase made my heart drop."
While a fourth ranted: "The Beast is playing so badly."
The Beast told presenter Bradley Walsh: "I’ve never played that badly before and won.
"I’ve never got eight wrong before and won!"
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 6pm
