Will Geoff go to prison in Coronation Street?

The net is closing in on Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) in Coronation Street tonight as the cops arrive to ask him a few questions.

The character has so far managed to evade justice for his vile treatment of wife Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) – who has been awaiting trial for attempted murder after hitting back at him – while twisting the truth to suit his own narrative.

With crucial CCTV footage of his abuse having come to light though, could the character finally be about to get his comeuppance behind bars?

Here’s what you need to know…

Will Geoff go to prison in Coronation Street?

We don’t know yet how Geoff’s storyline will progress – so you’ll have to keep watching to find out whether his crimes finally catch up with him and he ends up in prison as a result.

However, it’s certainly looking as though he might finally be caught out on Wednesday night, after Monday’s instalment saw Sally (Sally Dynevor) take a huge risk in sneaking into No 6 to acquire the abuser’s laptop, after coming to believe there could be CCTV footage on there that could help in freeing Yasmeen.

The episode saw Geoff arrive home and catch Sally in the act, before proceeding to threaten her – but in tonight’s show she escapes the house, and shouts for Tim (Joe Duttine) for assistance, saying she has taken Geoff’s laptop and wants to view the footage.

The pair get a little help from Faye Windass (Ellie Leach), as they attempt to download the deleted camera app and retrieve the CCTV – which could provide the evidence they need to expose Geoff.

And as the police later arrive to talk to him, just what will happen?

While the storyline has kept us all gripped, actor Ian previously spoke about just how dark Geoff’s plot arc has been, saying: ‘I knew where it was going but I wasn’t sure how far it was going to go.

All the early stuff was deliberately ambiguous as I wasn’t entirely sure how it was going to develop…it is very interesting to play, it is difficult, he is not a moustache twirling villain so with that comes challenges as he is the sort of villain who has very few if any redeeming features.’

Coronation Street continues tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
