Will Mellor has said he won’t be involved with the upcoming Hollyoaks anniversary.
The soap will mark its 25th anniversary later this year, and Channel 4 is already screening classic episodes in the run up to the occasion.
Plans for the anniversary are still a mystery but one thing we now know is James ‘Jambo’ Bolton – played by Will – won’t be back on our screens.
Speaking on Lorraine on Wednesday, Will was asked by host Christine Lampard whether he was still a fan of Hollyoaks.
The actor praised the Channel 4 soap for launching his career, adding that he had great memories of his time on the show.
‘Hollyoaks started my career so how can I not be [a fan]?’ Will said.
‘Hollyoaks I’ve got a lot to thank for where I am now. There’s an anniversary coming.
‘Sadly I won’t be returning but I’ve got a lot to thank that show for, so happy anniversary for when it comes round.’
Fans who might have been hoping for a reunion between Jambo and Tony will no doubt be feeling disappointed.
Will was part of the original cast back in 1995 before leaving in 1998. He returned for a guest appearance in a Christmas episode – with Jambo appearing as a vision to Tony – in 2004.
E4 is currently airing the [email protected] series, looking back at some of the soap’s most iconic storylines.
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
