Long-time Channel Nine Melbourne newsreader Peter Hitchener was unable to finish his bulletin on Monday night and was replaced after appearing to have difficulty reading his teleprompter.
Nine News said in a statement via Twitter soon after that Mr Hitchener had suffered a migraine while reading the news.
“He is now resting and we expect to see him back on deck tomorrow night,” the network said.
“He is grateful for everyone’s concern.”
Clint Stanaway replaced Mr Hitchener, who has presented the Melbourne bulletin since 1998.
Mr Hitchener recently celebrated his 75th birthday.
