Coronavirus infects 7 family members and kills 3 after they met for dinner

Coronavirus infected seven members of the same family after they all met up for dinner, with three of the relatives so-far killed by the disease.

Grace Fusco, 73, died Wednesday in New Jersey after a battle with Covid-19, the disease caused by coronavirus. When she died, Fusco was unaware that her eldest son and daughter had already been killed by the infection.

Her oldest daughter, 55-year-old Rita Fusco-Jackson, died on Friday. Carmine Fusco, Grace’s son, died hours before his mother on Wednesday.

Grace Fusco’s cousin and family lawyer, Paradiso Fodera told The New York Times that four other children in the family also have coronavirus and remain hospitalized – three in critical condition – after the disease spread rapidly through the family following a group dinner earlier last Tuesday. .

Nearly 20 other members of Fusco’s family have since been quarantined as they mourn the loss of their loved ones behind closed doors.

‘If they’re not on a respirator, they’re quarantined,’ said Fodera.

‘It is so pitiful. They can’t even mourn the way you would.’

State officials believe that the family’s infections are connected with John Brennan, 69, who was the first person in New Jersey to die from the disease.

According to The Times, the family had been unaware that any of their relatives had coronavirus until after Fusco-Jackson died – which was one day after her test came back positive.

‘This has been devastating for all of us,’ Fusco-Jackson’s sister, Elizabeth Fusco, told NJ.com.

‘Our hearts are broken over losing our sister, Rita. We just need help in saving our family members with life-saving medication.’

As of Thursday afternoon, 742 people had tested positive for coronavirus and nine had died from the disease in the state of New Jersey

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy reported 318 positive tests and four more deaths on Thursday then said that he believes state totals will soon rise into the ‘many thousands.’
