Police and FBI agents responded to an active hostage situation at a Wells Fargo Bank in Minnesota Thursday evening.
The tense scene unfolded Thursday afternoon at the St. Cloud bank branch, according to NBC affiliate KARE 11.
No injuries have been reported, but a number of bank employees were being held inside the building, police told the station at 5:15 p.m. Central Daylight Time.
“Negotiations are ongoing,” St. Cloud police reportedly Lt. Lori Ellering said in an urgent news release.
“The situation remains an active incident. There are an undisclosed number of bank employees being held hostage inside. There are no reports of injuries. The SCPD and FBI are working together on this incident and are working with SWAT resources on scene.”
It’s unclear how many hostages and suspects are inside the bank, according to the report.
“We recognize this is a traumatic moment for the community and our colleagues,” a Wells Fargo spokesperson told the station.
“The safety and security of our customers and employees is our most important priority.”
Photographs show the Wells Fargo branch surrounded by police cars, and witnesses said SWAT teams are at every entrance to the building, the report said.
