Huge electrical fire in NYC office erupts 'near UN Headquarters and state governor's office' as FDNY & Con Ed cut power

AN ELECTRICAL fire broke out in a building in New York City, near the United Nations headquarters and the New York state governor's office.

The New York City Fire Department is on the scene and said the fire has been contained in the sub-cellar of the building.

The electrical fire broke out in an office building at 633 3rd Ave.

The building houses the Office of the Governor of the State of New York. It is located in United Nations Plaza, just a few buildings away from the UN Headquarters.

FDNY spokesperson Jim Long said there have been no injuries reported, although there are elevated levels of carbon monoxide.

Long said FDNY is working with the energy company Consolidated Edison to "cut power and begin repairs."

One person posted video of the event and described it as an "explosion."

"FDNY using all hands for an explosion in the sub-cellar of a 41-story office building," the tweet says with video of FDNY flooding the building to investigate.
