Potential NYC coronavirus case tests negative for illness

The lone New York City patient being monitored this week for possible coronavirus infection tested negative for the disease Saturday, a health official told The Post.

The good news means the city currently has no coronavirus patients and no patients currently being monitored as possibly infected.

All eight New York City patients who have been tested for the coronavirus as a precaution have now tested negative, a city official said.

The latest patient given a clean bill of health had been tested after falling ill following travel to Italy, where as of Saturday night an outbreak of the coronavirus has sickened 1,128 people, including 29 who died.

Updates on the city’s potential coronavirus cases are posted online daily by the city health department.

World-wide coronavirus statistics are updated throughout the day by the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.
