Shocking moment family ‘sneak out of pub after racking up £300 bill' on steak and lobster without paying | The Sun

A FAMILY-RUN pub has pleaded for a group of six to come back and foot their £270 bill after splashing out on lobster, steak and drinks.

CCTV footage obtained by The Sun shows the group sneaking out of the back entrance of the pub in North Yorkshire on Friday night.

Owner of The Sutton Arms Emma Lee, 38, says: "We are only in a small village so you soon recognise people that have been in before. They’ve been in the pub before but this time they decided they didn’t want to pay."

The group, which called to make a booking earlier in the day under the name Finney, spared no expense ordering a starter, three pre-ordered lobsters, three fillet steaks and spent over £70 at the bar.

Emma says: "Everyday we get a fresh delivery of lobster. We normally get five lobsters so that’s ten portions but they sell out really quick.

Instead of putting all our steaks and lobsters and all those prices up, we've tried to keep it down and have taken a bit of a knock ourselves and then something like this happen and it’s just a bit of a nightmare

"Other People had asked for them on the night but we couldn’t sell them because we kept those three, so we could have sold them."

In the CCTV footage, you can see a woman wearing a pink activewear jumper pacing in the back carpark before a man runs out to join her. Another man follows before the group of three disappear into the night.

A young woman and man can be seen hurriedly leaving shortly after before another woman exists the venue, all within the space of 90 seconds.

Emma says: "The staff didn’t think much of it, they just thought the mum had gone to the toilet and then next minute the mum pretended she got a phone call and ran out past my daughter and they all just went."

The family has owned the pub for 12 years, with Emma and her husband working in the kitchen and three children at the front of the house.
